• Lighting: Air plants thrive in bright, indirect light. It is recommended to place them in an area where they receive continuous florescent lighting or near a window without being exposed to direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can cause leaf burn.

  • Watering: Air plants absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves, unlike traditional plants their roots. Ensure to mist your air plant 1-2 times a week using a spray bottle; for the best healthy plant, ensure water is reaching all parts of the plant including the leaves base and underside. During drier climates or hotter seasons, more misting may be needed.

  • Air Circulation: Air plants require good air circulation to prevent rot. Encourage your customers to place their air plants in well-ventilated areas to make sure they will dry out completely within hours after watering or misting. Discourage enclosing the plants in containers or terrariums unless there is ample airflow within.

  • Temperature and Humidity: Air plants thrive in temperatures between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. They prefer moderate to high humidity levels. If in a dry or arid climate, misting will be more frequently needed.

  • Fertilization: While air plants can gather nutrients from the air, occasional fertilization can enhance their growth. It is recommended using a gentle, water-soluble orchid or bromeliad fertilizer at 1/4-1/2 strength once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Caution: Do not over fertilize, it can be detrimental to the plants health.

  • Display & Care: Air plants can be displayed in various ways; most popular within a terrarium. If put in a setting not in a terrarium, ensure to adhere your plant safely to prevent accidental falls. Regular maintenance, such as removing dead blooms and leaves will help maintain health and appearance.
